Biswanath Ghat
বিশ্বনাথ ঘাট
The riverside village that gave the town its name. A cluster of old temples on the Brahmaputra, and India's Best Tourism Village (Bronze) in 2023.

Biswanath Ghat sits on the north bank of the Brahmaputra, about 10 km south of Biswanath Chariali. It is popularly called Gupta Kashi, and the town of Biswanath Chariali takes its name from the ancient Biswanath temple here.
The ghat is a cluster of temples to different deities around the confluence of the Burigonga (Bridhaganga) and the Brahmaputra. See Biswanath Temple.
A river port
Before steamers came, Biswanathghat was known for building country boats. After Guwahati–Dibrugarh steamer services began in 1861, it became one of the river ports between Dhubri and Dibrugarh. Tea from the north-bank gardens went downstream from here, and traders and workers came upstream.
Best Tourism Village 2023
In September 2023 the Union Ministry of Tourism named Biswanath Ghat one of India’s Best Tourism Villages, in the Bronze category. It was among 35 villages recognised that year.
