The district administration describes Monabarie as “Asia’s largest tea estate”. It is owned by McLeod Russel India Ltd and sits on both sides of NH-15 at Monabari, in the Behali area. (The estate is spelt Monabarie; the place, Monabari.)

A 2025 ETV Bharat report put the estate at about 1,367 hectares, with about 3,590 workers and about 10,500 residents. It has its own hospital, schools, a namghar and temples. Biswakarma Puja, Durga Puja, Ras Mahotsav and Magh Bihu are all celebrated in the garden.

This is a working estate, not a tourist attraction. Ask permission before going in or taking photos of people.
